Noted Savannah artist Myrtle Jones (January 23, 1913 – February 15, 2005) is known for her colorful paintings of Savannah scenes. She took up painting in the 1950s, and considered herself to be a self-taught artist. She moved to her home on Gaston Street in Savannah's National Register Historic District in 1964, and this served as her home, studio, and source of inspiration.
This intimate scene, painted in acrylic on canvas, features a beautifully decorated parlor.
This painting comes from the home of an avid local collector.
